PH30384: UNEXPECTEDLY HIGH RESOURCE CONSUMPTION DUE TO ULMAXPAR AND MAXPART UNDULY IGNORED

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The maximum number of partitions to be processed
  by a single HPU process, specified either by the VUU060/ULMAXPAR
  parmlib parameter of the MAXPART option is ignored which leads
  to the following consequences:
  the expected INZU242I message is not issued
  the Db2 HPU step uses more system resources (memory, TIOT...)
  than expected which can cause and outage and a failure of the
  Db2 HPU step.
  This occurs when the following conditions are fulfilled:
  - the data is unloaded from an image copy (COPYDDN option)
  - the input image copy is the global image copy of a partitioned
  table space ; i.e. the data from all the partitions are copied
  into a single data set
  - the number of partitions in the image copy is greater than the
  value specified by VUU060/ULMAXPAR or MAXPAR
  

Local fix

• consider splitting up the unload statement into several unload
  statement against several sets of partitions by using the PART
  clause
