Error description
The following error occurs when migrating a federated node into a WebSphere traditional base version 9 install. com.ibm.websphe re.models.config.customprocessexec.NamedProcessDef MIGR0272E: The migration function cannot complete the command. Caused by: j ava.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.ibm.websphere.models.config .customprocessexec.NamedProcessDef cannot be found by com.ibm.ws.migration_9.1.0
Local fix
As a workaround, the customer can migrate the profile into a profile in an ND install instead of a base install.

**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server Version to Version Migration Tools * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: NoClassDefFoundError NamedProcessDef * * when running WASPostUpgrade on a * * federated node in a BASE WebSphere * * install * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The following error occurs when migrating a federated node into a WebSphere traditional base version 9 install. com.ibm.websphe re.models.config.customprocessexec.NamedProcessDef MIGR0272E: The migration function cannot complete the command. Caused by: j ava.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.ibm.websphere.models.config .customprocessexec.NamedProcessDef cannot be found by com.ibm.ws.migration_9.1.0 This occurs because the profile is part of an ND cell, but is created in a WAS Base install. Migration is attempting to load some classes that are only present and used by WAS ND (in this case, WVE classes.) Since the .jar for these classes is not present, the error is thrown. The code this occurs in is only incidentally loading these classes, and does not actually depend on their existence to work.
Problem conclusion
Migration was adjusted to expect the NoClassDefFoundError in the code causing it and handle it appropriately, allowing the migration process to continue. The fix for this APAR is targeted for inclusion in fix pack 9.0.5.6. For more information, see 'Recommended Updates for WebSphere Application Server': https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/715553
