APAR status

Error description

  • Description:
    A view with multiple key fields defined stopped working,
    clicking the links for each field did nothing. The issue was
    found to be the presence of an empty grid component in the view.
    The key field in that grid was removed leaving the grid empty.
    
    Prerequisites:
    
    Create a View
    
    1.	Log into OpenPages as Admin user via supported browser
    2.	In the Task UI, navigate to Settings > Solution Configuration
    > Views
    3.	Click Add View
    4.	Check options Default and Enabled
    5.	Select Business entity as the Object type
    6.	Give the View a name e.g Key Fields
    7.	Select Task as View type
    8.	Click Add
    9.	In the View Design tab click Add section
    10.	Give the section a label e.g  General
    11.	Click Done
    12.	Under Object Fields drag Name and Description into the new
    section
    13.	Click on Description field and set Required to True
    14.	Drag and drop Name and Description to the Key Fields area
    15.	Add another Section and give it a label e.g Grid 1
    16.	Click Done
    17.	Under Relationship fields drag in a grid component
    18.	Give it name e.g Grid 1
    19.	Select Children as the Relationship Type
    20.	Select Control as Object Type
    21.	Click Add Action and select Associate
    22.	Give it a label e.g Associate Control
    23.	Click Done twice
    24.	Drag Grid 1 to Key Fields area
    25.	Click Add Section again, provide label e.g  Grid 2
    26.	Click Done
    27.	Drag a grid component into new section
    28.	Select Descendants from Relationship type
    29.	Select Issue for Object type
    30.	Click edit under relationship paths and select Issue
    31.	Click Done
    32.	Click Publish
    33.	Navigate to Organization > Business Entities and select an
    entity
    34.	Click to open the task view and check the key fields work by
    clicking on each
    35.	Navigate to Solution Configuration > Views
    36.	Search and select the newly created view
    37.	Select the Design tab
    38.	In Grid 1 section remove the Grid1 field to create empty
    grid
    39.	Click Publish
    
    
    
    
    
    
    Steps to Reproduce:
    
    1.	Navigate back to Organization > Business Entities
    2.	Search and select a Business Entity to open task view
    3.	Click on the remaining two key fields links and confirm that
    they do not work
    
    To resolve
    1.	Navigate to Settings > Solution Configuration > Views
    2.	Find and select view affected
    3.	On the Design tab remove the Grid 1 component from the view
    4.	Publish the View
    5.	Navigate to Organization > Business Entities and select a
    Business Entity to view in Task View
    6.	Try the Key Fields links and confirm they do now work
    
    
    
    
    
    Expected Results:
    The validation for the view should detect the empty grid and
    alert the user or the empty grid should not affect the key field
    links
    
    Actual Results:
    
    Key field links do not work when an empty grid component is
    included in the published view
    

Local fix

  • Remove the empty grid component from the view and republish.
