Error description

  • During IMPORT command processing, there are several IEC031I
    D37-04,IGG0210B messages.
But IMPORT command process was completed with RC=00.
Later, an ABENDU0456 with MSGDFS592I for PSB member for
    which IMPORT was done.
     IEC031I D37-04,IGG0210B,CSLA,CSLA,DFSDO001,6125,AIMSA1, 547
     IMS.CATAD000.DI1002( )
     IEC031I D37-04,IGG0210B,CSLA,CSLA,DFSDO000,6125,AIMSA1, 549
     IMS.CATAD000.DI1001( )
    .....
Above IEC031I messages were issued at failure on STOW ADD macro
in COPYTD routine of DFSMOLS0 due to directory data set full.
This failure was recovered by close, open and retry STOW again.
Retry of STOW got RC=00 and PDSE directory entry was updated.
But actual member became empty due to close and open.
This seems to be an error in PI84135 which added STOW recovery
    logic.

    Additional Symptoms:

Repeated messages issued at IMPORT DEFN SOURCE(CATALOG) command
processing when directory encounters out of space E37-04
    conditions:
    - IEC032I E37-04,IGG0210B on directory
    - IEC032I E37-04,IGG0210C on directory
    - IEC032I E37-04,IGC0005E on directory
    - DFS3679E THE DIRECTORY DATA SET IS FULL.
    DSN=catalog_directory_dataset_name after IEC032I E37-04

    ABEND0C6 in DFSMOLS0 COPYTD after IEC032I E37-04 on directory
data set at IMPORT DEFN SOURCE(CATALOG) command processing

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
    * During IMPORT DEFN SOURCE(CATALOG) command processing, *
    * several IEC031I D37-04,IGG0210B messages were issued due to *
    * out of space condition on the catalog directory. The out of *
    * space condition was recovered by closing and reopening the *
    * catalog directory and retrying the STOW operation to the *
    * catalog directory. The STOW retry was successful and the *
    * IMPORT command process completed successfully. *
    * Subsequently, the scheduling of the PSB member gets *

    ****************************************************************
The IMPORT DEFN SOURCE(CATALOG) encountered out of space
condition on the catalog directory. As part of the out of space
recovery process, the catalog directory was closed and reopened
to retry the STOW I/O operation. As part of the close
processing, the actual member has been deleted. When the
catalog retried the STOW I/O operation, it created the EOF mark
for the member. Subsequent dependent region scheduling gets
ABENDU0456 with DFS592I EMBEDDED EOF FOUND IN ACBLIB PSB
    psbname.

Problem conclusion

  • Module DFSMOLS0 has been modified to address the reported
problem. After routine COPYTD recovers the out of space
condition, it would retry the entire I/O operation to retry
writing the ACB member to the catalog directory instead of just
the STOW operation to the directory. Routine SAVRSCL would
return with error upon return from routine UPIMSL with out of
    space error.
