Error description
The correct processing of an image copy requires to take into account some information on how it was created. The needed information can be specified by the user with the INLINE or COPYTOCOPY or FLASHCOPY options. It is retrieved from the Db2 catalog when the COPYDDN LAST_IC/-integer option is specified. It can also be retrieved from the Db2 catalog if the CHECK option is specified. The processing of regular image copies - an image copy created by the Db2 IBM COPY or any compliant utility - is faster than the processing of other kinds of image copies that usually require a sort before the actual unload process. When Db2 HPU does not have the needed information, it always process the image copy as a regular one which can lead to an improper processing with potential ABENDs or incorrect unloaded data. Db2 HPU should allow to specify how to process the image copy if the information needed to determine the correct process is neither provided by the user nor retrieved from the Db2 catalog. ------------------- The planned implementation is as follows. A new option at the GLOBAL level whould be added : -------------- +- IC_PROCESSING -- value of Vxxxnnn/ICPROCES --+ >-+- IC_PROCESSING--+-----------------------------+-> +- SAFE ----------------------+ +- FAST ----------------------+ IC_PROCESSING The correct processing of an image copy requires to take into account some information on how it was created. This optional parameter applies if the IC_PROCESSING option is not specified and allows to specify how to process the image copy if the information needed to determine the correct process is neither provided by the user nor retrieved from the Db2 catalog. Specify either of the following value: - FAST: the fastest process is chosen. - SAFE: a process valid for any kind of image copy but not the optimal one in terms of performance is chosen to guarantee a correct processing of the image copy. The default value is FAST. The corresponding SYSIN parameter is IC_PROCESSING in the GLOBAL OPTIONS block. This parameter is also referred to as Vxxxnnn/ICPROCE. --------------
