Error description

  • At z/OS 2.4, during Rununit Init of a CICS transaction, one may
    experience msg CEE0802C.

    ANALYSIS:
At z/OS 2.4, LE added the CEENXSTG option to create a
non-executable heap NXHEAP . The first use of this new heap is
    the ENVAR data.
Neither the ensm_hwrk1 nor the hpcb_options field was
initialized by CEEVGTIH. Some variations of junk will lead to
problems when CEEV#GTS tries to allocate a HANC, not limited to
    the hpcb_4K flag being on.

    The Traceback will look like:
    DSA Entry E Offset
     1 CEEKDUMP +00000F20
     2 CEEVSSFR +00000012
     3 CEEHDSP +00004A54
     4 CEEHSGLT +00000060 Exception
     5 CEEV#GTS +0000074E
     6 CEEVGTST +00000072
     7 CEEBENV +000009C0
     8 CEEZENV +00000822
     9 CEEZINV +00000300
    10 CEECRINI +00000A00

    KNOWN IMPACT:
    The CICS transaction fails.

    VERIFICATION STEPS:
msgCEE0802C and the above traceback info (from the Exception to
    the bottom).
If one gets an abendU4038, the TERMTHDACT() run-time option will
need to be changed to obtain a U4039 dump.

Alternately, some flags that are known to cause a problem are:
ENSM+B0 b20, resulting in the Heap error,
       ENSM+28C b80, resulting in U4038 in CICS.

Local fix

  • BYPASS/CIRCUMVENTION:
On needs to remove the ENVAR() run-time option from CEEPRMxx and
other places RTOs can be specified.
