APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Invalid characters in a report definition can cause the Task UI
    to appear blank for all users until restarted.
    If the report definition contains an invalid character, an error
    like the following will appear in the log:
    ERROR PublishService on
    Application Error!
    WebContainer : 17 org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: Character
    reference "&#11" is an invalid XML character.
    

Local fix

  • Clean any invalid characters out of the stored JSP file from
    openpages-storage

Problem conclusion

  • We made a number of changes to prevent invalid characters in a
    report definition to appear blank and hanging the system.
    
    NOTE: this is fixed in 8.2.0.1 and also in interim fix 8.1.0.1.5
    
    Customers should download OpenPages with Watson 8.2 Fix Pack 1
    (8.2.0.1). See the following document for details on obtaining
    OpenPages 8.2.0.1:
