PH25629: ABEND OR HANGING SITUATION FOR UNLOAD STEP WITH LARGE NUMBER OF SELECTS AND/OR ALLOCATED FILES

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• (HPU 5.1 Only) An unload step can terminate in abend or hang due
  to an outage of memory below the 16-megabyte line.
  This can occur if the number of either of the following items is
  large (typically more than 500) :
  - SELECT statements in the unload command, either explicitly or
  through a FROM LIST clause involved in the Db2 HPU step
  ,regardless of the UNLOAD statement they belong to
  - datasets allocated for the step either for input such as image
  copies or for output is large, regardless of parallelism degree
  and on the setting for ONDEMAND_RESOURCE_ALLOCATION in
  VUU030/ULOPTNS.
  Possible symptoms of this issue are:
  - an ABENDS0C4 occurs
  - the following error is reported:
  CEE3250C The system or user abend S878 R=00000010 was issued.
  From compile unit IX6TTMR at entry point IX6SVC26 at compile
  unit offs
  - IEW4000I FETCH FOR MODULE IEAVTRF4 FROM DDNAME LNKLST FAILED
  BECAUSE INSUFFICIENT STORAGE WAS AVAILABLE.

• none unless the unload can be split into several unload steps.
