PH25463: WITH HPEL ENABLED AND "ENABLE LOG RECORD BUFFERING" SET TO TRUE, THE TEXTLOG IS NOT UPDATED INSTANTLY

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• With HPEL enabled and "enable log record buffering" set to
  true, the TextLog is not updated instantly.
  
  For example, prior
  to updating to the 8.5.5.17 FixPack, when starting the server
  the TextLog is updated with the "WSVR0001I: Server server1 open
  for e-business" line at the same time the startServer.log is
  updated with "ADMU3000I: Server server1 open for e-business;
  process id is ###".
  However, after updating to the 8.5.5.17
  FixPack, the startServer.log is updated with the "open for
  e-business" line but the TextLog does not get updated at the
  same time.
  

Local fix

• Disable the "log record buffering" option.

  With HPEL enabled and log record buffering is enabled, the
  TextLog is not updated instantly while other logs get updated.
  Buffered log writer starts timer task for flushing and is not
  successfully implemented for textLog.
  

Problem conclusion

• Implementation of buffering function with timer has been
  integrated for textLog. TextLog will be written every second or
  whenever the buffer is full.
  
  The fix for this APAR is targeted for inclusion in fix pack
  9.0.5.5 and 8.5.5.18. For more information, see 'Recommended
