Error description

  • When issuing SELECT statement using IMS SPUFI JBP to an IMS
database, there are the following problems:
    - If IMS database segment contains decimal field and its data
does not match the DBD FIELD definition it shows blank(s). It
is different from the result of IMS Explorer.
    - If IMS database segment contains fields which use internal
converter or external converter and the converted data
exceeds the original field size, whole data is not displayed.
    - Unnecessary checkpoint call is issued even though the IMS
      database is not changed.

    ****************************************************************
When issuing SELECT statement using IMS SPUFI JBP to an IMS
database, there are the following problems:
     - Unnecessary checkpoint call is issued even though the IMS
       database is not changed.
     - If IMS database segment contains a decimal field and its data
is not match to the DBD FIELD definition, it shows blank.
     - If IMS database segment contains fields which use internal
converter or external converter and the converted data
exceeds the original field size, whole data is not displayed.

Problem conclusion

  • IMS SPUFI JBP has been fixed as follows:
     - Unnecessary checkpoint call is no longer issued.
     - When showing unmatched data to a decimal field, it shows
"NULL" as its data to notice unmatched data is stored.
Also, a new message ATYJ214W is issued.
     - When showing fields which use internal converter or external
converter, whole data is displayed as the result of the query
even if the converted data exceeds the original field size.

If you run IMS SPUFI using COBOL, apply the PTF of APAR PH24458.

    message.

Troubleshooting > Messages and codes > Messages (ATYA - ATYZ)

ATYJ214W DATA CONVERSION FAILED IN 1 OR MORE COLUMNS

    Explanation

Failed to convert some portions of data using the converter that
is defined to the DBD. The data conversion failed in one or more
columns due to inconsistency between the type definition and
data format. This data is in the records obtained by running a
    SELECT statement.

    System action

Processing continues. The result of the SQL statement is stored
in the IMS SPUFI output. The failed data is stored as "NULL".

    User response

To identify the failed data, select COBOL for the language
environment and rerun the SELECT statement. When COBOL is
selected, the original data in the database is displayed in
hexadecimal format. Use the hexadecimal data to identify the
failed data. After you identify the failed data, ensure that the
data is correct - if not, modify the data so that the type
    definition and data format match.
