PH24649: DFHLS2JS RECEIVES JVMJ9VM015W INITIALIZATION ERROR FOR LIBRARY J9JIT29(11): CANNOT INITIALIZE JIT

APAR status

Error description

• Running the DFHLS2JS procedure produces an error message saying
  that the JIT will not initialize.

  The error message is:
  JVMJ9VM015W Initialization error for library j9jit29(11):
  cannot initialize JIT
  

Local fix

• Changing -Xmx230M to -Xmx250M resolved the problem.

  The customer was using the DFHLS2JS CICS assistant program to
  convert a language structure into a JSON schema. When running
  the DFHLS2JS procedure it produced an error message saying
  that the JIT will not initialize.
  
  The error message is:
  JVMJ9VM015W Initialization error for library j9jit29(11):
  cannot initialize JIT.
  
  The maximum Java  heap size can be set by the user with the -Xmx
  option. The problem is that too low a value is specified for the
  -Xmx memory allocation given in the script used by DFHLS2JS to
  establish its execution environment. The -Xmx230M value was
  too small for Java's needs in this customer's environment.
  
  This problem could be seen when using the other CICS assistant
  programs.
  
  Note - DFHWS2LS has a provided -Xmx value of -Xmx400M.

Problem conclusion

• DFHLS2WS, DFHSC2LS, DFHLS2SC, DFHJS2LS and DFHLS2JS have been
  changed to specify a -Xmx value of -Xmx256M in the scripts
  used by the procedures for these assistant programs.
