Error description

  • When the library name is specified in lower case, within a

    cemt library(file1) discard
we get a dump for an AEXZ abend and
    see message
    +DFHLD0002 A SEVERE ERROR (CODE X'8205') HAS
    OCCURRED IN MODULE DFHLDLB2.

If the command uses the same
    name, but specified in uppercase
     cemt library(FILE1)
    discard
    there is no abend.

When the CEMT DISCARD was issued
    with a library name in
upper case, but for a non-existent
    library XXXX resource,
the CEMT screen just shows a NOT FOUND
    error message and
    again no abend took place.

Local fix

  • Ensure that the CEMT command is entered with the
    library name
    in uppercase.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS users. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: An attempt to discard a CICS LIBRARY *
    * definition using a lower case library *
    * name results in an abend, *
    ****************************************************************
A request is made by CEMT, CECI or EXEC CICS to DISCARD
a library definition specifying the library name
    in lower case characters.
The requesting program suffers an abend AEXZ because the
library name is in lower case.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHLDLB2 has been changed to detect the lower case name
and return NOTFND to the requesting program.
CEMT now returns NOT FOUND to the user.
CECI and EXEC CICS DISCARD now return NOTFND.
The user can discard the library by specifying the
library name in upper case characters.
