Error description
When IMS database segment contains zone decimal, numeric, or character data in the packed decimal field, the data is displayed as the result of SELECT on IMS SPUFI function. It is hard for users to determine the data type if it is not matched to the DBD FIELD definition. In addition, residual data from the prior row is displayed when the data type does not match the DBD definition.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of IBM IMS Administration Tool for * * z/OS (FMID=HALC110) who use IMS SPUFI * * function in the SQL language COBOL * * environment. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: IMS SPUFI returns incorrect output * * when zoned decimal data is in a packed * * decimal field. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR. * **************************************************************** When non-packed decimal data exists in a packed decimal field, IMS SPUFI displays the data as numeric. It cannot be determined whether the data type is correct or not. And, residual characters of the preceding line are displayed when zone decimal data is in the packed decimal field.
Problem conclusion
IMS SPUFI COBOL has been fixed as follows: - IMS SPUFI COBOL shows the data in hexadecimal format when non-packed decimal data is in a packed decimal field or non-zoned decimal data is in a zoned decimal field. - Before this change, ATYE999W message was issued only for the packed decimal field. After this APAR change, the message is issued for the packed decimal field and the zoned decimal field. And, the message text is changed to ATYE999W INVALID DECIMAL DATA IN 1 OR MORE COLUMNS If you run IMS SPUFI using JBP, apply the PTF of APAR PH24978. ======================== = DOCUMENTATION CHANGE = ======================== The documentation "IBM IMS Administration Tool for z/OS V1R1, User's Guide (SC27-9011-03)" is changed. Troubleshooting > Messages and codes > Messages (ATYA - ATYZ) |ATYE999W INVALID DECIMAL DATA IN 1 OR MORE COLUMNS Explanation |Detected packed decimal or zoned decimal data with incorrect values in one or more columns. This data is in the records obtained by running a SQLIMS SELECT statement. System action Processing continues. The result of the SQLIMS statement is stored in the ISPUFI |output. The first few bytes of data is stored in hexadecimal |format. User response |Review the columns that contain the data in the database selected by the SQLIMS statement. If necessary, consider changing the data.
