    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When the controller service (job step *
    * TCB) detects a child TCB abend for a *
    * critical service the job step ends *
    *                      CC=0.                                   *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The job step TCB was handling the abend and returning CC=0. The
    job step should instead set a non-recoverable error condition
    code to indicate there was a failed TCB leading to the end of
    the job step.

Problem conclusion

  • The code is modified to return 12 (non-recoverable error) when
    a critical service abends.
    .
    The job-step TCB CC is set to 12 only if Classic CDC detects
    that a child TCB has failed and decides to trigger critical
    service processing leading to the end of the address space. If
    a non-critical TCB abends or the address space is configured
    to not stop, the CC will not be set and the address space
    remains running. If the job step TCB itself abends that would
    be reported as an abend of the address space.
    .
    The APAR changes processing to end "RC=0012" when message
    CACA0119W is issued.
