• When FTP is configured as documented:

  $HOME/.netrc  must be contain a line for public.dhe.ibm.com,.
  
  Enhancements to the scripts will detect the absence of the
  .netrc configuration and default to the use of https as the
  file transfer protocol..
  
  https requires no configuration and is the preferred protocol
  going forward.

  *                      mechanism.                              *

  * RECOMMENDATION: Begin using https instead of ftp.            *

  A new module httpsCopy.jar provides a general purpose function
  to copy a file, specified by a URL to a directory.
  The receive.sh and worklow samples supplied with KC4z are
  enhanced to invoke httpsCopy.jar instead of ftp when the
  .netrc file is not configured for ftp support.
  

Problem conclusion

• The requirement to support secure transport is satisfied with
  the support for https added by this service.
