Problem conclusion

  • Currently customers can specify the parameters in z/OSMF
PARMLIBs to customize z/OSMF server as they wish. However, all
of parameters are not able to be changed dynamically.
In another word, any change to parameter will require server
to be restarted in any circumstance. Restarting server are
going to stop all of running applications affecting customer
business. In addition, there is a special parameter
AUTOSTART_GROUP used for autostart function. If the parameter
wants to be changed, reIPL is required so that it is impossible
for customer to change it. With SET command supported, customer
is able to dynamically change some parameters without restarting
z/OSMF, especially the change to the parameter AUTOSTART_GROUP
    won't be required to reIPL

The syntax of z/OSMF SET command is as the follows:

    1. Use the SETIZU command followed by option 'KEYWORD=value' to
    change the parameter.
    For example: SETIZU ILUNIT=SYSDA

    2. Use the SET IZU to update the z/OSMF PARMLIB to be used
    for next start of z/OSMF.
    For example: SET IZU=5C
