Error description

  • After the fix for PI95886 has been applied, Db2 HPU unduly
produces more than one output data set and can terminate in
ABEND due to the lack of memory (ABENDS878) when the following
    conditions are fullfilled:
    - the data is unloaded from the global image copy (COPYDDN
    option) of a partitoned dataset
    - the DDL to be used is provided through the DDLDDN feature
    - the content of the DDLDDN data set describes a
partition-by-growth table space with a MAXPARTITION attribute
    greater than one
    - the unload specifies an ORDER clause
The exact number of unloaded data sets depends on the case as
    follows:
    - case 1: If NUMPARTS is not specified in the DDLDDN data set,
the number of unloaded data sets is equal to the value specified
    for MAXPARTITIONS
    - case 2: if NUMPARTS is specified, the number of unloaded data
sets is the minimum between NUMPARTS and the number of
partitions in the image copy data set.

Local fix

  • In the DDLDDN data set content, replace the value specified for
NUMPARTS by the exact number of partitions cnotained in the
image copy. The whole expected data will be unloaded into a
    single data set.
