Error description

  • LIU module which runs under the IMS Administration Tool to show
Catalog Space Analysis causes dynamic allocation failure for
DFSHDBSC DD when the following conditions met:
    1. The IMS catalog database is registered to the RECON data set.
    2. DFSHDBSC DFSMDA member is created in the MDA library but it
includes non-existent IMS catalog partition definition data set.

LIU module should not do dynalloc DFSHDBSC when the IMS catalog
database is registered to the RECON data set.

    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR. *
    ****************************************************************
When LIU runs under IMS Administration Tool to obtain IMS
environment information, the dynamic allocation error occurs
    for DFSHDBSC DD.

It is caused when the following conditions meet.

-IMS Catalog database is registered to the RECON data set and
UNREGCATLG definition is not set in the DFSDF member.

-DFSMDA member has the definition of the catalog partition
definition data set which DD name is DFSHDBSC, however, it
    points non-existent data set.

When IMS Catalog database is registered to the RECON data set,
DFSHDBSC for the catalog partition definition data set is not
used. Regardless of it is used, LIU always do dynamic
allocation DFSHDBSC DD when LIU finds the definition. If the
system has unused definition, LIU should not do dynamic
    allocation it.

This APAR fixes LIU not to do dynamic allocation DFSHDBSC DD
when IMS Catalog database is registered to the RECON data set.
