Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server Liberty for z/OS * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: MSGLOG DD writes are not synchronized * * which may lead to JVM termination * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** A write to the MSGLOG DD is handled by a WsLogHandler specific to a configured MSGLOG DD. The write routines that are driven for messages are not synchronized and may cause the interleaving of parts of messages. Also observed were native failures in the ZosLoggingBundleActivator.ntv_writeFile routine which lead to a JVM crash.
Problem conclusion
Code was modified in the MsgLogLogHandler's write routine to provide synchronization for the write path. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 20.0.0.3.
