APAR status

Error description

  • Description:
    
    If an administrator has applied access controls to the FastMap
    folder to prohibit users from access FastMap it will cause the
    homepage and user provisioning pages not to load properly.
    
    Prerequisites:
    
    OP 8.1
    
    1.	Log into OpenPages as the Administrator
    2.	Switch to Standard UI
    3.	Create a new group
    a.	Navigate to Administration -> Users, Groups and Domains
    b.	Click on ?Workflow, Reporting and Others?
    c.	Next to ?Groups? click ?Add New?
    d.	Provide a name and click ?Create?
    4.	Add Permissions for the Group
    a.	Click on the group name
    b.	Next to ?Permissions? click on ?Edit?
    c.	Select all boxes and click ?Save?
    5.	Create a new test user in this group
    a.	Click on the group just created
    b.	Next to ?Users? click ?Add New?
    c.	Provide user name and password details
    d.	Copy Access from = ?Assign from scratch?
    e.	Give the user a profile(s)
    f.	Group Memberships = Group just created
    6.	Give the user Administrator Permissions
    a.	Click on ?Assign? next to ?Administrators & Permissions?
    b.	Find the user created using the ?user selector? next to
    ?User/Group?
    c.	Select all permissions and click ?Assign?
    7.	Set Access Controls on the FastMap folder
    a.	Go back to the Task Focused UI
    b.	Click on the Settings (gear) icon in the upper right corner
    c.	Select ?Manage Pages and Templates?
    d.	Navigate to Reporting -> SOX
    e.	Click on ?FastMap?
    f.	Click on ?Inherit ACL? and change to ?False?
    g.	Under ?Access Control? click on ?Add Access Control?
    h.	Select the OPAdministrators group have granted access to all
    options
    i.	Click ?Add?
    
    Steps to Reproduce:
    
    1.	Log into OpenPages as the test user
    2.	Note the homepage is blank for the Task Focused UI
    3.	Change the URL to have home.do on the end so it will go to
    the Standard UI (in my case it was
    http://<servername>:<port>/home.do
    4.	Go to Administration -> Users
    5.	Note the message ?The page you?re looking for can?t be found?
    

Local fix

  • Remove access controls on FastMap or add the user to the group
    who has access to FastMap via access controls.

Problem conclusion

  • In some cases, a user may not have access to the fast map folder
    during some sequences. In this case, requests to get to the
    fastmap folder will throw an Access Denied Exception instead of
    a resource not found exception.  We added some code to catch
    these exceptions.
