GOC - DB2v12 Insert Partitions enhancements
Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of the Db2 Administration Tool * * and Db2 Object Comparison Tool for z/OS. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: This APAR provides enhancements to * * support the new Db2 12 functionality * * to insert partitions. * * * * The following areas are changed: * * * * 1. Catalog navigation * * 2. Alter (AL/ALT) * * 3. GEN * * 4. DDL reader/Merge * * 5. Compare * **************************************************************** This APAR provides the following specific enhancements: 1. Catalog navigation: Panel ADB21II1 'Interpretation of an Object in SYSCOPY' describes additional TTYPE column values of the SYSCOPY catalog table in 'Format' field. Panel ADBPPDCI 'Interpretation of Object in SYSPENDINGDDL' displays the lowest and highest partition in range for REORG (the REORG_SCOPE_LOWPART and REORG_SCOPE_HIGHPART values in the SYSPENDINGDDL catalog table). 2. Alter (AL/ALT): The ALT line command on a partitioned table displays panel ADB27CPV 'Alter Partitioned Table', which is enhanced to allow inserting a partition before or after any existing partition by using the INS line command. This panel allows editing limit key values by using multiple operation types (ALTER, ADD, INSERT) and the operation type is reflected in 'Oper' column. The new RESET primary command cleans up and resets all changes to the original values. During the AL line command operation, panel ADB21TAV 'Alter Partitioned Table' allows a similar streamlined insertion operation. More usability improvements to make AL consistent with ALT are planned for a future release. 3. GEN: When you generate SQL to re-create an object, Db2 Admin Tool can generate CREATE or ALTER statement that include the pending changes to insert partitions. 4. DDL reader/Merge: Db2 Admin Tool can now parse the statement ALTER TABLE... ADD PARTITION n ENDING AT x to insert a partition at physical partition n with limit key value x. Db2 Admin Tool also supports inserting partitions by using the statement ALTER TABLE....ADD PARTITION ENDING AT at x. The partition is inserted into the correct location based on limit key value x. 5. Compare: Today, when Db2 Object Compare compares the partitions in a source and target, it can generate ALTER ..TABLE ADD PARTITION AT x for adding partitions at the end and ALTER TABLE..ALTER PARTITION n ENDING AT x for altering limit keys of existing partitions. With this enhancement, when Db2 Object Compare compares the partitions in a source and target and discovers a partition in the source that does not exist in the target,Object Compare can generate the change statement ALTER TABLE..ADD PARTITION AT x to insert the partition. The change statement to insert a partition (ALTER TABLE...ADD PARTITION ENDING AT x) is a pending change. Object Compare generates REORG TABLESPACE.. SCOPE PENDING to resolve the pending changes for affected partitions.
