Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS users. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: DFHLG0514 and DFHFC0523 issued for an * * open of an RLS file with forward * * recovery log. * **************************************************************** An open of an RLS file with forward recovery log is attempted by CSFU, the CICS transaction to process those files defined to be opened at startup. CICS Log Manager issues an MVS ENQ for the associated forward recovery logstream under the RO TCB. If the subsequent open of the VSAM file fails, DFHLGST has to disconnect from the logstream then issue the DEQ. The disconnect may return a warning (4,404) if a structure rebuild is in place at the time. This results in message DFHLG0772 being issued. DFHSYDMP can force this to take a system dump. This causes DFHRSDU to call DFHFCFR to update the DFHRSTAT CFDT for CPSM. This requires a switch back to QR for the CFDT work. Upon return from DFHFCDR, DFHFCFR does not switch back to RO as the EIS for CSFU indicates it is threadsafe and so happy to float on the current TCB. Control returns to DFHLGST and the MVS DEQ is issued under QR. This fails as the ENQ had been issued under RO not QR. Later on, another file open is attempted by CSFU for a different file but one with the same forward recovery log. This time it is the ENQ of the logstream name that fails as it is already held by RO from the time of the previous open failure. CICS issues messages DFHLG0514 and DFHFC0523 to report this. Problem conclusion
DFHLGST has been changed to ensure the call to DEQ the logstream name is made under the RO TCB.
