Problem summary

    * USERS AFFECTED: All CICSPlex SM users                        *

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When the IPCS command, VERBX EYU9D550   *
    *                      'TRC' or VERBX EYU9550 'TRC=A', is      *
    *                      used to format out CPSM trace entries   *
    *                      within a CICS dump file, the following  *
    *                      error message might be displayed in     *
    *                      the output:                             *
    *                                                              *
    *                        - An error has occurred while         *
    *                          formatting CICS Trace Data Record.  *
    *                                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: After applying the PTF that resolves this    *
    *                 APAR, restart any IPCS sessions pointing to  *
    *                 the version of EYU9D550 distributed by the   *
    *                 PTF.                                         *

    When the IPCS command, VERBX EYU9D550 'TRC' or VERBX EYU9550
    'TRC=A', is used to format out CPSM trace entries within a CICS
    dump file, module EYU0DVAF (DVAF - Trace Formatter) is called to
    interpret CICS trace records. Once the trace record is
    identified as a CPSM user trace record, subroutine REC_CPSM is
    called to format it out. However, due to program logic error,
    when a zero length entry is presented in trace data1 field, the
    CICS trace record could not be interpreted properly, and as a
    result, the following message is printed as an indicator of the
    failure.
    
      - An error has occurred while formatting CICS Trace Data
        Record.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Module EYU0DVAF has been updated to interpret the CICS records
    properly.
