APAR status

Error description

  • Abend0c4 in module CPADISPC on a store instruction at + x'5D0'.
General purpose register contains x'80000000' causing the abend.
                                                               .
The job involved is running with multiple SMF110 weekly
datasets. It looks like in this case a full months worth of data
is being processed, which is amounting to reading 70+ volumes.

Local fix

  • Workaround is to limit the number of SMF input files.

ABEND0C4 occurs in CPAMAIN +X'DB44' when the number of records
processed exceeds 2,147,483,647 due to record counter overflow.

This APAR has been taken to ensure the record counter does not
overflow. It does not increase the size of the record counter.
After applying the APAR, if the record count for any record type
exceeds 2,147,483,647 the number of records printed in the
SYSPRINT file or that record type becomes unreliable.

Problem conclusion

  • CICS PA is changed to ensure that the record counter does not
overflow and cause an abend.
