Error description
Development analysis confirmed that the permitted memory allocation size of an application is controlled by the Storage Model. When compiling a Cobol program and creating a program (CRTCBLMOD and CRTPGM programs respectively), there is an option called STGMDL. By default the limit for a single allocation is about 16 MB (not 8 MB as the user suspected). This can be in principle increased to STGMDL(*TERASPACE) and that would allow more than 16 MB in a single allocation.
