PH17903: ALTER TABLE TO ADD COLUMN GIVING ISSUE DURING LOAD

APAR status

Error description

• Adding a new column between two existing columns, using the
  LT function on an existing table, with the options DELIMITED
  YES and COLDEL ; selected on panel ADB2USU
  
  UNLOAD give us problem at reload time.   Example error:
  
  DSNU310I -DB2D 220 11:14:59.58 DSNURCON - RECORD (1) WILL BE
  DISCARDED DUE TO 'C31'
  CONVERSION ERROR FOR DB2DEVP.TEST_EBCDIC
  ERROR CODE '02 - INPUT NUMERIC INVALID'
  
  note C31 is the new column that was inserted.

Problem summary

  *                 column and specify the UNLOAD options        *
  *                 DELIMITED YES and COLDEL.                    *
  ****************************************************************
  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: DELIMITED YES and COLDEL are not        *
  *                      included in the UNLOAD statement in the *
  *                      batch job that is created by the ALT    *
  *                      function even though the user           *
  *                      specified them. The absence of these    *
  *                      options causes UNLOAD to fail.          *
  ****************************************************************
  A user is adding a new column between two existing columns
  by using the ALT function and specifies the DELIMITED YES
  and COLDEL options. (You can use the UL line command to
  change the UNLOAD options and set DELIMITED to YES and
  specify COLDEL.) Then, Admin Tool generates a batch job
  to alter the table to add a column that does not allow a default
  value (with option ANALYZE IN BATCH set to NO).
  
  The resulting unload step generates a CSV file but LOAD
  issues the following message:

  DSNURCON - RECORD (1) WILL BE DISCARDED DUE TO <column_name>
  CONVERSION ERROR FOR <table_name> ERROR CODE '02 - INPUT
  NUMERIC INVALID'

  CONVERSION ERROR FOR <table_name> ERROR CODE '02 -

Problem conclusion

• The LOAD problem in this scenario is resolved and completes
  successfully.
  
  However, the DELIMITED keyword is not supported by Admin
  data conversion routines; therefore, if data conversion
  is needed when the DELIMITED keyword is specified, the
  following messages are now issued:
  
  ADBC001I Alter for table tbname
  Format delimited and data conversion requested, but this
  combination is not supported
  ADBC199E Internal error. Unable to continue
