    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: EXEC CICS DELETE FILE(filename) GENERIC *
    *                      suffers AFCV abend.                     *
    ****************************************************************
A CICS application program is accessing a VSAM RLS file
    which is using replication logging.
The application issues EXEC CICS DELETE FILE(filename) GENERIC.
CICS calls VSAM RLS, which places a lock on the deleted record.
Later, CICS does not tell VSAM RLS to release the lock which
it is holding on the record, and so the record remains locked.
Subsequent transactions attempt to write a new record using
the same RIDFLD, and wait within VSAM RLS for the lock to
    be released.
CICS detects that the transaction is waiting too long for
VSAM RLS to reply, and abends the transaction AFCV.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHFCRS has been changed to issue 'lite' ENDREQ calls to
    VSAM RLS at appropriate points.
    .
PH17079 corrects a problem where AFCV abends may be returned
when issuing EXEC CICS DELETE GENERIC commands against the last
record in a VSAM Control Interval. To ensure that VSAM RLS
releases its record lock in all such cases, please apply the
corrective service from VSAM RLS APAR OA58274 too.
