Error description

  • Receiving intermittent AEXZ abends during WSACONTEXT BUILD.
    .
    The following Trace Entry is produced.
    .
    1C01 PIAD EXIT  - FUNCTION(CONTEXT_BUILD) RESPONSE(DISASTER)
                      REASON() CONTEXT_BUILD(22026E4E , 0000005F ,
                      0000005F) XML_OFFSET(0)
    .
    The problem is in the build_maps routine in DFHPIAD. It is
    iterating over the array of possible addressing properties.
    However, its array is of size 8 but there are 9 properties so
    the processing of the ninth property is dependent on residual
    data, which can cause the disaster response to be returned.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Abend AEXZ on an EXEC CICS WSACONTEXT *
    *                      BUILD TOEPR command.                    *
    ****************************************************************
    An application issues EXEC CICS WSACONTEXT BUILD TOEPR.DFHPIAD
    procedure build_maps iterates over the array of possible
    addressing properties. The array is of size 8 but there are 9
    properties, The 9th entry in the array is not initialised
    however, and the resultant undefined value may cause the
    build_map routine to be called with a type of map_epr, which it
    is not expecting. This causes the disaster response to be
    returned and an abend AEXZ as a result of DFHPIAD returning
    DISASTER.
    KEYWORDS: abendaexz MAP_NAME_ARRAY_LENGTH PI1C08 PI1C09

Problem conclusion

  • DFHPIAD has been changed to correctly initialise the
    piad_map_parms array.
      In addition, the diagnostics produced by DFHPIAD have
    been enhanced to generate better FFDC when different error
    conditions are detected, to assist with future problem
    determination. New trace points tid_piad_unexpected_mtype
    and tid_piad_debug (PI 1C08 and PI 1C09) have been defined for
    use on calls to severe_error in these circumstances.
