PH14388: JAVASCRIPT ERROR POPS UP WHEN RUNNING REPORT WITH FULL INTERACTIVITY IN FIREFOX 68

Error description

  • Using Firefox 68, when running a report in the interactive
viewer, editing a report, or creating a new report, a pop up
window is thrown with a javascript error.  The exact function
names shown vary by version but look similar to:

_368.prototype._L5L@http://servername:9300/bi/pat/rsstartupblock
_8.js:21:3986

This does not occur for the classic viewer, nor does it occur in
Firefox ESR 60, or Firefox 67.

Local fix

  • It should be noted that as of the time this APAR is logged
Cognos Analytics versions 11.0.13, 11.1.1, and 11.1.2 only state
active support for Firefox ESR 60.  This APAR is raised to
capture this issue so the product can be made compatible with
the newer ESR release, but this use case is not currently
supported.  In the short term the issue can be avoided by using
the supported Firefox 60 ESR browser, or another supported
browser like Internet Explorer or Chrome.
