PH13433: DB2 ADMINISTRATION TOOL - INSERT HINT COMMAND FAILS WITH SQLCODE-117 OR EXPLAIN UT PLAN_TABLE NO UPGRADE DONE ADB2E

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• This APAR resolves various symptoms related to the fact that
  Admin Tool does not take into account new column PER_STMT_ID
  that was added to PLAN_TABLEs when upgrading to Db2 V12:
  1.  Using the IH - 'Insert Hint' command returns error SQLCODE
  -117 / SQLCODEN117 because of the new column PER_STMT_ID that
  was added to PLAN_TABLEs when upgrading to Db2 V12.
  2.  An attempt to upgrade a PLAN_TABLE (missing column
  PER_STATEMENT_ID) using option E (Explain) from the Admin Tool
  main menu, and command UT (Upgrade a table to current DB2
  version) on panel ADB2E, results in the message "No upgrade
  done". Hitting PF1 to get additional information results in the
  longer message,  "The PLAN_TABLE was already at the correct
  level".

  While running Db2 Admin Tool v12.1 against Db2 V12 FL100,
  submitting line command IH to insert a hint from panel ADB2EL
  results in a SQLCODE=-117.
  
  Also when using command UT - 'Upgrade a table to current DB2
  version', on panel ADB2E to add new V12 column to PLAN_TABLE,
  entered desired schema, and then entered 1 for the Table entry,
  Tool responded with the message:
  
    "No upgrade done"
  
  Pressing PF1 to get additional info came back with:
  
    "The PLAN_TABLE was already at the correct level"
  which is not correct because it did not have the PER_STMT_ID
  column.
  

Problem conclusion

• The problem has been resolved.
