PH09963: DFHLG0745I DFHLG0747I CICS START UP TAKES LONG TIME 19/03/21 PTF PECHANGE

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• CICS region went down for DFHLG0772. Then when the region was
  restarted automatically, DFHLG0745I and lots of DFHLG0747I
  messages occurred (note the same symptoms may be seen after
  a CEMT P SHUT IMMEDIATE command is issued).

  DFHLG0745I  System log full scan has started.
  DFHLG0747I  System log scan continuing,
  xxxx records processed.
  .
  The DFHLG0747I messages continued for almost an hour and the
  initialization can not complete until the regions were shutdown
  using MVS CANCEL.
  Additional Symptoms:  DFHLOG filling up    fills
  CSKP not running   does not run   never runs
  Activity Keypoint is not happening
  There are no DFHRM0205 messages
  Initial program for CSKP, DFHRMXN3 is UNUSED (see Loader
  domain).

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Many DFHLG0747I messages issued during  *
  *                      CICS emergency restart.                 *
  ****************************************************************
  If CICS is initial started, a failure to drive activity
  keypoints results in DFHLOG not being trimmed as UOWs complete.
  CICS will warm keypoint and trim the log if it shuts down
  normally. However, no warm keypoint occurs if CICS ends with a
  SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE command, or is cancelled. In that case,
  CICS has to read back to the start of DFHLOG to be able to
  complete a subsequent emergency restart. This can take a long
  time and result in many DFHLG0747I messages.

  correctly following an initial restart.
