PH09627: IOH5110E UNEXPECTED RESPONSE TO MODIFY PREPARE ISSUED ERRONEOUSLY WHEN IMS USES THE APPC/IMS AND THE IMS CATALOG.

APAR status

Error description

• This problem occurs if IMS uses the APPC/IMS and the IMS
  Catalog. When HP Sysgen issues the /MOD PREPARE command using
  APPC/IMS, it expects to receive the following message from IMS
  if the command completes successfully:
  DFS3499I ACTIVE DDNAMES: modblks-name acblib-name format-name
  MODSTAT ID: nnnn
  
  
  However, if IMS uses IMS Catalog, HP Sysgen receives the
  following message instead of DFS3499I message from IMS:
  DFS3780I ACTIVE DDNAMES: modblks-name DFSDIRC format-name
  MODSTAT ID: nnnn
  
  So HP Sysgen outputs "IOH5110E UNEXPECTED RESPONSE TO MODIFY
  PREPARE" message. When IMS provided IMS Catalog, it seems that
  the DFS3780I message indicating that the /MOD PREPARE command
  succeeded was added. But HP Sysgen still uses only the DFS3499I
  message to determine whether the /MOD PREPARE command
  successfully completed.

  IMS HP Sysgen Tools issues IOH5110E message if IMS uses the
  APPC/IMS, the MODBLKS data sets and the IMS Managed ACB.
  When IMS HP Sysgen Tools issues the /MOD PREPARE MODBLKS command
  using APPC/IMS and the command completes successfully, IMS HP
  Sysgen Tools expects to receive the following message from IMS.
  DFS3499I ACTIVE DDNAMES: modblks-name acblib-name format-name
  MODSTAT ID: nnnn
  However, if the IMS Managed ACB is used, IMS issues the
  following message instead of DFS3499I.
  DFS3780I ACTIVE DDNAMES: modblks-name DFSDIRC format-name
  MODSTAT ID: nnnn
  So IMS HP Sysgen Tools issues "IOH5110E UNEXPECTED RESPONSE TO
  MODIFY PREPARE" message.
