Error description
The validate function provided by the Catalog Manager utility does not support the IMS directory staging data set. This APAR enables the Catalog Manager utility to validate the time stamps of ACBs in the IMS directory staging data set with the time stamps of DBDs and PSBs in the IMS catalog and the time stamps of ACBs in the ACB libraries. The utility supports comprehensive validatiton of the time stamps of DBDs and PSBs in the IMS catalog, the IMS directory (active ACBs in the IMS directory and staging ACBs in the staging data set) and ACB libraries.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IMS Library Integrity Utilities for z/OS, * * Version 2 Release 2 (FMID=H27P220) users * * who use the Catalog Manager utility. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: This APAR enables the Catalog Manager * * utility to support IMS directory * * staging data set for the validate * * time stamp function. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR. * **************************************************************** This APAR enhances the Catalog Manager utility to support the IMS directory staging data set for the validate function. The existing Catalog Manager utility checks the ACB generation time stamp of DBDs and PSBs in the IMS catalog, the ACB library, and active ACB data sets of the IMS directory. The utility validates time stamp of DBDs and PSBs without checking the time stamp of ACBs in the IMS directory staging data set and it also uses only the time stamp of the most recent instance in the IMS catalog. As a result of this, the validation result does not lead expected result if the ACBs are in the IMS directory staging data set. The utility is modified to check the ACB generation time stamps of DBDs and PSBs in the IMS catalog, the IMS directory (active and staging), and ACB libraries to ensure that DBDs and PSBs are consistent across those resources. The SGLXLOAD library of IMS Tools Base V1.6 or later is required if you want to check the resources in the IMS directory. The utility is also modified to check DBDs and PSBs without ACBs in the ACB library. The utility uses the time stamps of the ACBs in the IMS directory (active and staging) and verifies whether the DBDs and PSBs which have same time stamp as ACBs in the IMS directory exist in IMS catalog. The function of validate time stamp for ACBs in the ACB library and DBDs and PSBs in the most recent instance in the IMS catalog is still provided. The condition of VALID and INVALID is modified to fit the new criteria. The IMS Catalog Validation report is also modified to show the result from IMS directory staging data set. The report layout is modified to contain the DBDs and PSBs in the IMS directory staging data set and the new indicator which shows the different time stamp is introduced instead of FAILED status. This APAR also modifies the following reports to be simple to understand. - IMS Catalog Environment report in the IMS Catalog Environment report. The utility shows the alias of Catalog DB, Catalog HLQ and IMS Directory HLQ if used. - Compare listing for compare function. IMS directory HLQ is used instead of Catalog HLQ. ======================== = DOCUMENTATION CHANGE = ======================== The documentation "IBM IMS Library Integrity Utilities for z/OS V2R2, User's Guide (SC19-3979-04)" is changed.
