Error description

  • When using the ALT line command to alter a table, if one
executes primary command TBLOPTS on panel ADB27C ('ALTER
Table'), and changes ENABLE ARCHIVE to YES on panel ADBP7TOP
('ALTER - Table Options'), one can specify the ARCHIVE TABLE on
panel ADBP1TAL ('Enable Archive'). However, there is no way to
generate the JCL for the ALTER. Executing the primary
command NEXT on panel ADBP1TAL results in the message 'Invalid
cmd', while hitting PF3 to return to panel ADB27C loses the
change. In the latter case, if one selects NEXT on panel
ADB27C and NEXT again to generate the job, the message 'No
changes' appears, and no JCL is generated.

Local fix

  • Use the 'AL' line command instead of 'ALT'.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
When a user uses the ALT command, and then the TBLOPTS
command, to enable a table for archive, panel ADBP1TAL
('ssid Enable Archive') does not save the specified change.
As a result, when the user hits PF3 to return back to
panel ADB27C, and enters NEXT, the 'No changes'
warning statement appears, and no JCL is generated.
