Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of Db2 Administration Tool for z/OS * * who use the line command RD - 'Regenerate a * * DBRM member'. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The line command RD from Packages panel * * ADB21K can't find the packages in the * * Db2-catalog when: * * * * - the package name is mixed case * * - package name is > than 8 characters * * - package with no version * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The Issues have been resolved with the following restrictions: - For mixed case package names or package names greater than 8 bytes, the 'RD' line command accepts only a valid PDS for the DBRMLIB DD statement. - Package names > 8 bytes will be truncated to 8 bytes and stored in the DBRMLIB. - To write the complete package name (up to 128 bytes) to a USS path, the 'RD' generated DBRMLIB DD statement must be overwritten with a valid USS path DD statement, example below: //DBRMLIB DD PATH='/u/userid/dbrm/MixedCase.dbrm', // PATHDISP=(KEEP,DELETE),PATHOPTS=ORDWR, // RECFM=F,LRECL=80 The USS file must already exist and be RECFM=F and LRECL=80. PATHOPTS should be appropriate, i.e., the JCL submitter should have write access to the file. - If no version exists, then the syntax "PACKAGE collectionid.packageid.()" should work. If there is a version, then it is required.
Problem conclusion
The issues have been resolved. A BND2177I message may be received when the package has no version, and the package name contains special characters, The DBRM may not have been created prior to DB2 release 2.3 as the message indicates. This will be addressed with APAR PH10500.
