APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • A map that writes (PUT) data from a tab delimited file to
SQL Server database table encounters error "Target Not
Available".  Database adapter .dbl trace file shows:

   OLE DB Error code: 0x80040e14
   <...>: Statement(s) could not be prepared.

The issue is caused by the combination of the table having:
- Parentheses "(" or ")" or both in a column name, and
- Same table has another column defined as an IDENTITY column.

Circumvention: Do not use parentheses in table column names.

Problem Description:
Target Not available from OLE DB Error code: 0x80040e14 when
running map.

Platforms Affected:
Windows

Problem conclusion

  • If we got a space or ( or ) need to [] braket the name or else
fails with "Statement(s) could not be prepared." This tends to
occur when prior column is a auto column.

Applies to:
9.0.0.3, 10.0.0.0

Fixed in the next service packs and releases.
