APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • If a custom Parameter Style Hive User Defined Function returns
an object of class Text and the first argument to the UDF is
also not of class Text, then calling the UDF may fail with a
SQL0430N error.

Local fix

  • Adjust the java code for the UDF so that the the first argument
is also a Text Object so as to be consistent with the text
object being returned, or alternatively change the class of the
first argument to be another data type, for example String.
