PH08294: BSAM ACCESS METHOD USED FOR MERGE APPLICATION AT DFSORT RELEASE V2R2 WHEN ZHPF IS DISABLED AND INPUT IS VTS

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• In DFSORT release V2R2 a change was made to prefer BSAM in
  order to exploit zHPF.  However, if zHPF is not enabled then
  DFSORT should continue to use EXCP rather than BSAM.  The code
  in the MERGE path branches to the zHPF code when the input
  data comes from a VTS.  DFSORT should be branching around this
  code due to the fact that zHPF is not enabled.

Local fix

• The following undocumented run-time overrides will force DFSORT
  to use EXCP instead of BSAM if possible:
