Error description

  • FPA ANALYZE function receives ABENDS0CB in HFPA5SD0 because a
    divide exception occurs during a standard deviation calculation.
                                                                S0CB

    *                      in HFPA5SD0 because a divide exception  *
    *                      occurred during a standard deviation    *

    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR. *
    ****************************************************************
    DP instruction is used to calculate the standard deviation for
    the average database record length. In some cases, when the
    divisor is much less than the dividend, which leads to a result
    that the quotient is too big for the quotient field, the divide
    exception may occur.
    This problem exists not only in FPA ANALYZE function, but also
    in FPB DEDB Pointer Checker.

Problem conclusion

  • FPA ANALYZE function and FPB DEDB Pointer Checker have been
    modified to use a trial comparison to prevent divide exception
    from occurring.
