Error description
After upgrading from WAS v8.5.5.x to WAS v9.0.x, the connection pool for a connection factory will become exhausted, resulting in the J2CA0045E error... J2CA0045E: Connection not available while invoking method createOrWaitForConnection for resource jms/myTest.QCF This problem does not occur on WAS v8.5.5.x. The same application and the same connection pool settings are used on both versions of WAS.
Local fix
Increase the maximum size value on the connection pool.

Problem conclusion
The J2CA0045E error occurred because the Web services code was creating two service instances for the same Web services provider which prevented the connection from being released to the connection pool. The problem was fixed by creating only one insntance of the Web services implementation class. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 9.0.5.1.
