Error description

• Modifying a column from DECIMAL to VARCHAR in a unicode table
  corrupts the data. Decimal to character and varchar conversion
  does not do Unicode translation for these conversions.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When converting a DECIMAL column in a   *
  *                      Unicode table to CHAR/VARCHAR, the data *
  *                      is corrupted.                           *

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

  When using ALT, Compare, or Change Management to convert a
  DECIMAL column to a CHAR/VARCHAR in a table that is stored
  in Unicode, the data is not converted to Unicode and therefore
  gets corrupted.
