Error description

• Delete from an HBase table using a predicate on the row key that
  matches a few thousand rows (~5000) takes approximately 30
  seconds.  Such a delete operation should only take sub-seconds,
  for example, around 500 ms.

  When a delete from an HBase table is executed with a predicate
  that matches a large number of rows (> 50000), a subset of the
  rows may not get deleted.  When the same delete is attempted a
  second time, all of the rows are deleted correctly.

  This fix addresses both of these issues.
