PH01590: RAS_DEFAULT_MSG_DD REROUTED MESSAGES SHOULD BE FORMATTED WITH A TIMESTAMP

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Messages that are normally written to the system log receive a
time of occurrance timestamp by virtue of where they are
written. It is however possible to route these messages
elsewhere via the ras_default_msg_dd environment variable,
where no time of occurance timestamp is provided.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
Messages that are rerouted using ras_default_msg_dd or
ras_hardcopy_msg_dd do not get a time of occurrence timestamp.

Problem conclusion

  • Changed the code to add a timestamp to ras_default_msg_dd
and ras_hardcopy_msg_dd rerouted messages when requested.

To have a timestamp added to ras_default_msg_dd routed
    messages set ras_default_msg_dd_enable_timestamps to 1.
To have a timestamp added to ras_hardcopy_msg_dd routed
    messages set ras_hardcopy_msg_dd_enable_timestamps to 1.
    The default for ras_default_msg_dd_enable_timestamps and
    ras_hardcopy_msg_dd_enable_timestamps is 0. When set
to 0 timestamps will not be written.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix pack 9.0.0.10. Please refer to the Recommended
