Error description

  • Steps to Reproduce:
    1. Create a component template (CT)
    2. Go to Configuration -> Properties
    3. Add a new property with a value defined.
    4. Go to the Components tab of the component template
    5. Create a component from the component template
    6. Go to the Configuration tab of the Component -> Component
    Properties
    7. Verify that the property value defined in 3) is present.
    8. Verify that in the actions column of the property table is
    the text "(Inherited)"
    8. Click on the Batch Edit Button
    9. Click save without editing the properties in the text area
    10. Click on Use Table Mode

At this point you should see that the actions column of the
property is no longer "(Inherited)" per 8), but instead is
"Edit" and "Delete". This is unexpected behavior.

At this point, from the saving of the batch edit, the component
has saved its own version of the property that it keeps locally
that is separate from the template property. Further changes to
the template property will no longer be tracked, leading to
    unexpected behavior.

Local fix

  • On the Component's Component Properties table, you can delete
the overwriting property to return it to its default value and
    linkage to the template.

You can also reset an earlier version of the component
properties to restore the property as well.
