Error description

  • CICS is at MXT. Tasks are suspended on resource ENQUEUE KCSTRING
and CCSTWAIT VSMSTRNG. One of the tasks suspended on the string
wait (VSMSTRNG) is the owner of the ENQUEUE KCSTRING
"DFHTOR:tt:mm". The strings are held by tasks waiting for the
Enqueue. Therefore, we have a deadlock. This is a timing
problem, very similar to APAR PK18930 but in this case the EXEC
CREATE TERMINAL is for non-pooled terminals.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Tasks are suspended on ENQUEUE KCSTRING *
    *                      "DFHTOR:tt:mm" and some are waiting     *
    * CCSTWAIT VSMSTRNG. The owner of the *
    * ENQUEUE is suspended on the string wait *
    * (VSMSTRNG) but the strings are all held *
    * by tasks waiting for the same enqueue. *
    * These tasks are deadlocked. *
    ****************************************************************
A task which holds an exclusive ENQ on STRING 'DFHTOR:tt:mm' is
waiting for a VSAM thread but all those VSAM threads are held by
tasks that are queued waiting to ENQ on STRING 'DFHTOR:tt:mm'.
Each task is running an EXEC CICS CREATE TERMINAL command for
    non-pooled terminals.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHAMPIL has been changed to isolate EXEC CICS CREATE TERMINAL
commands by issuing a further enqueue "CREATE_TERMINAL".
