  join may result in the following error:
  IBM0421S  ONCODE=520  The SUBSCRIPTRANGE condition was raised.

  compile unit offset >offset< at entry offset >
  at address >address<.
  ERROR condition was raised
  User abend 4,038 dec occurred processing command 'DSN     '.

  The error occurs because the parser assumed that a JOIN
  is always followed by an ON clause, but that is not required,
  e.g. in a CROSS JOIN.
