PH00805: DB2 ADMIN TOOL - AFTER AN ALT, WSL NOT GENERATING MQT OR VIEWS ON MQT OR SQLCODE -750

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Two issues:
  Issue #1: After Alter the name of a column, the MQT is not
            Dropped and only the Alter Statement is generated
            causing a SQL Code -750 / SQLCODEN750
  
  Note: MQT is referencing altered table by the alias name not
        the actual table name.
  
  Issue #2: Table altered, the Tool did not recreate the MQT
            views or the Grants associated with the MQT views.

Problem summary

  * USERS AFFECTED: Users of the Db2 Administration Tool for     *
  *                 z/OS and the Db2 Object Comparison Tool for  *
  *                 z/OS who alter and rename columns in a table *
  *                 which is referenced in MQT via alias name.   *
  *                 The MQT has VIEWS and Grants. Also users of  *
  *                 CM Batch facility who use import.            *
  ****************************************************************
  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: There are 3 problems reported:          *
  *                                                              *
  *                      1- Renaming a column in a table         *
  *                         referenced by a MQT that uses        *
  *                         the alias of a table may create      *
  *                         a WSL that returns SQLCODE = -750    *
  *                         / SQLCODEN750.                       *
  *                                                              *
  *                      2- Altering column attribute in table   *
  *                         referenced by MQT that uses the      *
  *                         alias of a table which has VIEWS     *
  *                         and Grants, some CREATE VIEW and     *
  *                         GRANT statement may be missing.      *
  *                                                              *
  *                      3- Import step fails with the message:  *
  *                         ADB7350E Module : ADB2CMP detected   *
  *                         an ONCODE condition 520 in           *
  *                          RESOLVE_VIEWS ...                   *

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

  There are 3 problems reported:
  
  1- If a column is renamed in a table referenced by MQT via alias
     name compare does not generate DROP and CREATE statements for
     the MQT. Execution leads to SQLCODE = -750
  
  2- When altering column attribute in table referenced by MQT
      that uses the alias of a table
     which has VIEWS and Grants compare generates the alter, the
     unload of the base table, drop of dependent objects and
     recreates only MQTs and first view. The second view and its
     GRANTs are missing.
  
  3- If a view is dropped and re-created in the same script, the
     import step fails with the message:
  
     ADB7350E Module : ADB2CMP detected an ONCODE condition 520
     in RESOLVE_VIEWS at 7610.
  
   Note: Statement numbers are approximate, and may vary
   somewhat, depending on maintenance applied.
