Error description
The Object Comparison tool generated DROP/CREATE commands when performing the compae of a tablespace / table. However, such an alteration could be made with only one ALTER, without having to perform an UNLOAD and LOAD of the table in question. This fix will add support to check DB2 zparm IX_TB_PART_CONV_EXCLUDE. After the implementation, compare will perform migration from index-based to table-based partitioning via the ALTER TABLE ALTER PARTITION statement if the number of partitioning keys is the same for source table and target index.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of Db2 Object Comparison Tool for z/OS * * who migrate from index-based to table-based * * partitioning with different number of * * partitioning keys. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Compare is not considering Db2 * * zPARM IX_TB_PART_CONV_EXCLUDE * * during migration from index-based * * to table-based partitioning. The * * default for this zPARM is YES, which * * would automatically drop the extra * * columns from index during * * migration. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** Compare is not considering Db2 zPARM IX_TB_PART_CONV_EXCLUDE during migration from index-based to table-based partitioning. The default for this parm is YES, which would automatically drop the extra columns from index during migration. In such case migration can be performed with an ALTER statement. Otherwise drop and recreate of the table is needed.
Problem conclusion
Support for Db2 zPARM IX_TB_PART_CONV_EXCLUDE has been added to Compare. If the zPARM value is 'YES', Compare will perform migration with ALTER TABLE ALTER PARTITION statement with the number of partitioning keys from source table. If the zPARM value is 'NO' and number of partitioning keys is different, migration will be performed by dropping and recreating the table, as was done prior to this fix.
