OW55457: INVALID BUFFER CAUSES EVENT HANDLER TO STOP

Error description

• Minimize the loss of data and keep on going if IP is drops a
  byte of data. This will require code changes to both the
  Object Server (MVS) and the ASIMVSIPOSLister.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Minimize the loss of data and keep      *
  *                      running when IP loses first byte of     *
  *                      event message. The ASIMVSIPOSListener   *
  *                      service will identify a high number     *
  *                      greater than 4096 in a message that     *
  *                      says "client sending buffer size" in    *
  *                      the tivolimanager\logs\mvsip*.log file. *
  *                      This number indicated in this message   *
  *                      is a halfword showing the length of the *
  *                      event message. This is not the real     *
  *                      length of the message. This causes the  *
  *                      connection to stop receiving data. The  *
  *                      EventHandler service may also stop.     *
  ****************************************************************
  * RECOMMENDATION: There are two apars associated with this     *
  *                 fix. This same apar number is used for both  *
  *                 environments. Apply APAR OW55457 to TBSM     *
  *                 Source/390 library. Apply APAR OW55457 fix   *
  *                 to the TBSM distributed server that runs     *
  *                 the ASIMVSIPOSListenerSvc.                   *
  *                                                              *
  *                 Run with the following keyword card in       *
  *                 Object Server.                               *
  *                                                              *
  *                 Add REQUEST_RESPMSGS=YES. Both apars must    *
  *                 be applied.                                  *

  Minimize the loss of data and keep running if IP loses a
  byte during the transmission of event messages to the TBSM
  servers. An invalid length is processed by the
  ASIMVSIPOSListenerSvc causing invalid messages to be
  placed on the EventHandler Queues.
  
  Start Object Server with a new keyword card supported by the
  installation of both APARS.
  REQUEST_RESPMSGS=YES.
  
  Install APAR OW55457 using SMP\E for TBSM Source-390.
  Install APAR OW55457 defect fix for the distributed support.
  

Problem conclusion

• Tivoli Business System Manager now supports optional control
  of the TBSM event flow to ensure that each message is placed
  on the EventHandler File Based Queue on the EH machine before
  proceeding to send the next event message. If during the trans-
  mission of event messages, a bad message is received due to a
  dropped byte, a new connection will be established on the
  retrieval of the next subsequent message.
