Error description
ispf edit loops when editstor is set in isrcnfig ( isrconfg ) and repeat line command causes initial storage value to be exceeded
Local fix
( 023824 ) Workaround: Set editstor to zero or increase value of editstor
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of ISPF Edit and the EDITSTOR * * field of the ISPF Configuration Table. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Setting a value in the EDITSTOR field * * of the ISPF Configuration Table may * * cause the repeat line command to loop * * or may cause the message ISREV003 * * "Browse substituted" to be displayed * * in error. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** If a value is set in the EDITSTOR field of the ISPF Configuration Table, one of 2 problems may occur: - If the repeat line command causes the EDITSTOR value to be exceeded, ISPF Edit loops. - Editing a member that causes Browse to be substituted due to the EDITSTOR value being reached will cause subsequent edit requests for smaller members to also have Browse substituted.
Problem conclusion
The bit that indicated that conditional GETMAINs should be done (used during the initial read of the edit data) was not properly being reset, causing the loop in the repeat line command. The bit is now properly reset. The storage counter that kept track of the amount of storage used during the initial read of a member was not being reset to 0 for each member, causing the browse substituted message to appear. The field is now initialized for each member.
